| Renovations to convert the three-story Memorial School to housing for
the elderly were completed in March 1989. The first floor was dedicated
for the use of all residents and has an air-conditioned dining room with
a piano, an activity room, a living room with entertainment centers, a
library, and a laundry room. There are sixty private apartments which are
located on the second and third floors. The building is also handicap accessible.
Memorial House became a Supportive Housing site in January 2001. A certified Personal Care Attendant is on site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assist with emergencies. Residents have their own private apartments that consist of a kitchenette, half bath, a bedroom/sitting room combination, and ample closet space. They share common areas such as a large dining room, living room, and activity areas. Residents of Memorial House enjoy a home cooked meal seven evenings a week. The shared evening meals, placement of the community rooms, and the planned and spontaneous activites provide many opportunities for socializing. Memorial House is accessible to public transportation and shopping. |
