Area Agencies on Aging were established under the Older Americans Act (OAA) in 1973 to respond to the needs of Americans aged 60 and over in every community.

The Area Agency on Aging serves as the public advocate for the development and enhancement of comprehensive and coordinated community-based systems of services in each community in it’s planning and service area. These systems are designed to assist older persons in leading independent, meaningful and dignified lives in their own homes and communities for as long as possible.

The Area Agency on Aging at BayPath provides grants to community groups throughout MetroWest to support programs for elders. These programs include congregate meals, legal services, caregiver supports, transportation, health awareness, exercise programs and other programs to serve elders’ needs.
